- 202 cases solved at Lok Adalat in Mohali | Chandigarh NYOOOZ
Mohali August 18As many as 202 cases were disposed of and compensation amounting to Rs13412452 were awarded during the monthly Lok Adalat here today.
Baljinder Singh Secretary District Legal Services Authority said once a decision was taken in the Lok Adalat the court fees incurred in the cases were refunded and there was no appeal for the decision of these cases. - Felling of trees in Mohali raises eyebrows | Chandigarh NYOOOZ
Mohali August 18Environmentalists and residents have expressed concern over the felling of trees in a park near the government dispensary at Phase 5.
Local residents said a total of nine trees had been felled or uprooted since Tuesday.
General secretary of Mohali Environment Society RS Baidwan said: “Persons responsible for the felling of the trees illegally should be booked.”Meanwhile MC officials said an investigation would be carried out and a police case registered against the persons responsible for it.

Tribune News ServiceMohali August 13Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu will unfurl the national flag during the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Government College in Phase 6 here on Sunday.
He said as per the state government's guidelines Independence Day would be celebrated across the state amid safety measures and crowd restrictions due to the pandemic.
Taking stock of the arrangements for the event and witnessing the full-dress rehearsal Dayalan said owing to the Covid crisis the I-Day celebrations would be restricted to hoisting the national flag followed by an address by the chief guest and prize distribution.
He said no public gathering would be held on the occasion and no schoolchildren would be involved in the event.

Chandigarh August 13Chandigarh on Friday reported seven new cases of Covid-19 taking the total tally in the city to 62024.
— TNSNo case for 2nd day in PanchkulaPanchkula: Panchkula reported zero Covid cases for the second consecutive day on Friday.
As a result the tally remained unchanged at 30656.
The Covid death toll also stayed at 376.
