      Tribune News ServiceDera Bassi January 30About 85000 birds have been culled at three farms in Behra village since January 22 stated Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan. A culling drive was initiated after confirmation of bird flu cases at Alpha Royal and Evergreen poultry farms which ended today. Apart from the birds being culled 125 tonne of feed and about 3000 eggs were destroyed during the week-long operation. In addition a large quantity of manure at these farms was mixed in the soil by digging deep holes in the ground. Alpha Royal and Evergreen poultry farms have been sealed for three months.

      Tribune News ServiceMohali January 31A total of 54845 children were immunised on Day 1 of the three-day National Immunisation Day (NID) commonly known as pulse polio vaccination drive in Mohali district today. - Dr Veena Jarewal District Immunisation OfficerStating this Civil Surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur said the target was to administer drops to 153835 children in the age group of 0-5 years across the district. District Immunisation Officer Dr Veena Jarewal launched the vaccination drive by administering polio drops to children at a colony in Phase 6 here. Dr Veena said as many as 548 regular booths were set up across the district on the first day. To ensure that all children are immunised 128 supervisors will carry out checks at various places” said Dr Veena.

      Tribune News ServiceChandigarh February 1A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Sector 39. According to the police complainant Thakur Deen a roadside vendor and his wife Sheela Devi residents of Mohali were returning home in a cart on January 30 when a speeding motorcycle hit the cart from the rear side near the Sector 39 waterworks. The complainant his wife and the motorcyclist identified as Rajinder a resident of Maloya Colony fell on the road and suffered injuries. The injured were rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital Sector 16 where the motorcyclist later succumbed to the injuries. The police have registered a case at the Sector 39 police station.

      Mohali: The district reported 37 new cases of Covid on Wednesday. Among the new cases 26 were reported from Mohali (urban) three each from Dera Bassi Dhakoli and Kharar and one each from Banur and Lalru. TNS18 fresh cases in PanchkulaPanchkula: The district reported 18 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday taking the tally to 10401. While 10061 patients have recovered from the infectious disease so far 193 cases are still active. According to Anil Vohra Secretary Hockey Chandigarh only registered players (all age categories) can appear for the selection trials.

      Mohali January 31In a special campaign against alleged fraud and corruption by unauthorised immigration consultants the Mohali police have arrested Kurali resident Tarun Kumar who had taken Rs20 lakh from the owners of Expert Visa Master Immigration Company Phase 9 and Sankasam Enterprises Immigration Company Phase 11 in the name of senior police officers for the cancellation of an FIR registered against them for cheating on October 29 2020. After an investigation the police arrested the suspect on January 30 and Rs13.5 lakh was recovered from him. He was produced in a court and remanded in police custody for two days. Mohali SSP Satinder Singh said “He is likely to make a number of important revelations regarding other such scams during the interrogation.” A case was registered at the Phase 11 police station on January 29.

      Mohali January 21Overcoming the initial hesitation Covid vaccination drive is now gaining momentum in Mohali district. Aashika Jain Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) said today district health officials organised vaccination at 14 session sites which was the highest in the state. Jain said with 616 jabs administered in a day the district had vaccinated the second highest number of pre-registered healthcare workers. “No side effects of the vaccine have been reported from any of the beneficiaries till date in the district which has been a motivation for others to come forward” said Jain.
