District Magistrate Girish Dayalan issued the orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act No. 2 of 1974). The orders will remain in force till September 26.

The rally was flagged off by Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal and Commissioner Kamal Kumar Garg. Led by Brig HPS Bedi Director “Dil Se Cycle Group” the rally was attended by doctors senior lawyers teachers schoolchildren councillors among others. It culminated at City Park Sector 68.

Tribune News ServiceMohali August 8Heavy rain that lashed the city for about half an hour resulted in waterlogging in Phase 3B1 here this afternoon. Jaspreet Singh Gill two-time councillor from Ward No. 6 said there was waterlogging in the area after the rain which started around 2.30 pm. Jaspreet Singh Gill said sewer water started overflowing from toilets leading to foul smell in houses. Gill said he got the road gullies cleared this year too but heavy rain resulting in waterlogging in the area.

Politicians office-bearers of RWAs senior citizens and women slammed the police for failing to provide a safe environment to the general public. They complained that the law and order situation in Mohali was going from bad to worse. Gangsters snatchers and robbers are having a free run they said. Mohali August 5The Mohali Municipal Corporation will organise a special bicycle rally dedicated to 75th Independence Day here on August 8. The bicycle rally will be led by Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu. Disclosing this here today Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi said the rally would start from Rose Garden Phase 3B1 Mohali at 7 am and end at City Park Sector 68. Mayor Jeeti Sidhu requested all residents of Mohali to participate in the bicycle rally. Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal was also present.

Tribune News ServiceMohali August 7In a setback to former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini a special court here on Saturday rejected the anticipatory bail application in a corruption case filed against him by the Vigilance Bureau Punjab. Saini had filed the plea for seeking anticipatory bail through his counsel HS Dhanoya and APS Deol in the court of the Additional Sessions Judge on Thursday. Saini and six others were booked by the Vigilance Bureau under Sections 109 120-B of the IPC and the PC Act recently. Saini is accused of helping Punjab XEN Nimratdeep Singh in amassing assets beyond his known sources of income. Deol counsel for Saini argued that the case was the outcome of political vendetta and in line with the three earlier cases registered against Saini.

In a letter to the CM Lok Sabha MP from Anandpur Sahib and former Union Minister Manish Tewari had recently raised the issue of developer not fulfilling their obligations after selling plots and flats to people who invested their hard-earned savings. In his reply to the MP Capt Amarinder Singh said “I have directed the Principal Secretary Department of Housing and Urban Development to look into the matter and submit a report in a fortnight.”It is pertinent to mention here that residents of Mohali Kharar Kurali and New Chandigarh had apprised the MP of the problems they were facing at the hands of real estate developers including lack of basic amenities. Ten days after registering cases against 48 builders for raising illegal colonies in Kharar and Balongi areas Mohali SSP Satinder Singh had on July 27 constituted a special investigating team (SIT) under SP (Rural) Ravjot Kaur Grewal to look into it.

The MC at its General House meeting also unanimously passed various resolutions including regarding recruitment of 1000 sanitation workers. The Mayor managed to calm down the Opposition members by asking them to read the resolutions carefully and then ask questions. Tribune News ServiceMohali August 4The Red Cross Society here has come forward to provide free oxygen concentrators to Covid-19 patients with a dedicated oxygen concentrator bank being set up at the district level. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Komal Mittal said the oxygen concentrator bank was being run by the Red Cross Society at the District Administrative Complex Sector 76. Mittal said concentrators were being provided to patients on return basis for 15 days. Mittal said anyone in need can call on 0172-2219526 or contact senior assistant Red Cross Mohan Lal Singla at 94174-95806 to obtain the oxygen concentrator. The ADC further said the Red Cross had also installed two medical oxygen supply systems at Civil Hospital Phase 6.
