The health departments of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali said they will not be vaccinating anyone in the cohort of 18-45 till at least Monday.

The demand for oxygen in the district has gone up exponentially in the last 15 days. At present around 1000 patients, admitted in different hospitals, require oxygen support.

The Tricity reported 27 Covid- related deaths on Friday. These included 13 fatalities from Chandigarh, eight from Mohali and six from Panchkula.

The DC said that 484 patients recovered from the infection and were discharged. He added that a total of 32,036 patients have been cured so far.

Outside the district, the supply of medical oxygen will be made with a requisitioning order from the DC. Supply of every cylinder is being duly recorded.

Later, in a notification issued by the office of District Magistrate Mandip Brar, people engaged in essential services were allowed movement during the curfew hours. Hotels, bars, restaurants, etc, will be closed by 6pm but the kitchens can open for home delivery up to 9 pm.

There was also some good news amidst this gloom when Mohali deputy commissioner announced that the Indian Army's Western Command will help the state government set up a 100-bed Covid facility in the city.

The accused had posed as journalists at the time of the crime. Police is yet to make any arrests in the case.
