      Tribune News ServiceMohali May 24Flying Sikh Milkha Singh 91 who had tested positive for Covid-19 was admitted to the Fortis Hospital Mohali on Monday. According to hospital sources Milkha Singh's condition is stable and has been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Milkha Singh had tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday and he had home quarantined himself. The veteran Olympian is learnt to be having fever since Wednesday night. Milkha's wife Nirmal Kaur 82 had stated that her husband had not been vaccinated yet.
    • Man found dead in under construction building in Mohali | Chandigarh NYOOOZ
      Mohali May 21The police found an unidentified body of a man in the basement of an under-construction building in Phase 1 here on Thursday. The body estimated to be a week old was floating in pool of rain water said the police adding that children from a nearby area who used to play at the site saw the body first and intimated the contractor who further informed the police. The body has been shifted to the Civil Hospital mortuary and the matter is being investigated said the police.

She reviewed the role of Fateh Kit in their recovery and the efforts made by the district administration towards their healthcare. Jain said SP (Rural) Ravjot Grewal has been appointed as the nodal officer for distributing the Mission Fateh Kits among Covid patients. She said a Fateh Kit contains 18 items including pulse oximetre digital thermometre medicines information material medicine instructions instructions for patient's attendant and self-monitoring log charts. SP (Rural) Ravjot Grewal said food kits were also being provided to the needy.
    • Mohali police nab two with counterfeit currency notes | Chandigarh NYOOOZ
      Mohali May 20The Mohali police today arrested two persons for allegedly possessing counterfeit currency notes of Rs2000 and Rs500 denominations worth Rs15000. The suspects have been identified as Shubham Kumar alias Shiva and Babbu Chauhan both residents of Khanna in Ludhiana. The police said a nakka was laid on Badala road Kharar for checking the vehicles on Wednesday evening. On checking their vehicle the police recovered 12 counterfeit notes with the same serial numbers. The fake currency was recovered by the police and the vehicle of the suspects was also impounded.

      Mohali May 20Senior officers of the district administration today sponsored the vaccination for persons aged between 18 and 44 years of an entire village in the district. Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said he and his colleagues decided to pay for the vaccination in Masol village. On choosing Masol Girish Dayalan said the 45+ population of the village was already vaccinated so they decided to cater to the remaining population ensuring that the entire village was vaccinated. Other officials part of the initiative are ADC(G) Aashika Jain ADC (D) Rajiv Kumar Gupta Kharar SDM Himanshu Jain Dera Bassi SDM Kuldeep Bawa and Mohali SDM Jagdeep Sehgal. Meanwhile Priyanka Gupta owner of 'The Great Bear' Sector 26 Chandigarh sponsored the vaccine for 18 to 44 aged population of Nagalgarhian village of the district thus paying for 200 doses.

      Mohali May 19The police have booked two Bhiwani residents for allegedly raping a Mohali woman. The two are friends and Manjit is the son of the victim's brother-in-law said the police. She said Manjit used to arrange her meetings with her son in Mohali. Monu went to market with her son. Manjit tried to rape her but she raised an alarm following which Manjit fled the spot.

      Mohali May 17A furniture shop in Sector 77 here was gutted on Monday. It took a fire tender nearly an hour to douse the flames at Punjab Furniture House. The fire was caused by short-circuit near the shop. Owner Jasbir Singh Badali said the loss was worth lakhs.

      Mohali May 15Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu inaugurated development works worth Rs65 lakh in different areas of the district. These include footpath work in Army flats Phase 2 construction of a walking track in the neighbourhood park Phase 6 and beautification of the Industrial Area park near Sector 57. Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal and Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi were also present. Earlier work in societies was not carried out by the MC and Army flats were under Joginder Vihar Society. Jeeti Sidhu said a walking track would be constructed in the neighbourhood park Phase 6.

      Mohali May 6A close aide of gangster Dilpreet Singh Dahan alias Baba has been arrested by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Mohali in a case of extortion. The suspect has been identified as Makhan Singh a resident of Samlah village in Anandpur Sahib. SSP Satinder Singh said a CIA team received information about Makhan following which he was arrested at the Khanpur T-point in Kharar. A case was registered at the Kiratpur Sahib police station. The SSP said a case under Section 384 of the IPC and Sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act had been registered against Makhan Singh at the Kharar (City) police station.

According to information the administration had been receiving complaints from people about overcharging by diagnostic centres for CT scan. All private diagnostic centres conducting chest CT scan must share their data with the district Civil Surgeon. As per the instructions of the state government diagnostic centres must display scanning rates in a visible manner. Professor Arvind has been working as professor Physics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali. He is a well-known theoretical quantum physicist working on science education science communication and developing science pedagogy in Punjabi and is credited with over 100 technical and non-technical publications including 'True experimental reconstruction of quantum states and processes via convex optimisation' published this year. He is also a member of the DPR drafting committee for the National Mission on Quantum Technologies and Applications (NMQTA). He has also worked at the Physics Department of Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh as a special faculty from 2002-2004.
