      Tribune News ServiceAmritsar April 7The SGPC has strongly condemned the baseless statements being made by some people regarding the land owned by Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) under the management of the SGPC. SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami said no land of the gurdwara was sold by the SGPC but it was acquired by GMADA. Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib had about 24 acre land at Premgarh Saini Majra village of which about 12 acres was acquired by GMADA in 2012-13. “The FDR of the remaining amount is still prevalent in the name of Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib only” he said. Here also nearly nine acres of the remaining land belongs to Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib.

      Tribune News ServiceMohali March 17As many as 897 senior citizens and 125 in the 45 to 59 age group with comorbidities were administered the first shot of the Covid vaccine here today. In the category of healthcare workers 196 were given the first dose while 54 received the second today. A total of 13222 senior citizens and 2101 persons aged from 45 to 59 have been jabbed so far. As many as 7570 healthcare workers have been given the first shot while 3613 have got the second shot. Similarly 6192 frontline workers have received the first dose of the vaccine and 1140 the second.

      Tribune News ServiceMohali March 13A 17-year-old girl's family claimed she was abducted at gunpoint from her house in Kandala village in broad daylight on Saturday. A complaint from the girl's family said that four unknown people came in a white car barged into the family's rented accommodation in the village bundled the girl into the car at gunpoint and left. A village resident Sajjan Singh tried to follow the vehicle for two kilometers and even managed to break its windshield near Jagatpura village but the car drove off anyway the complaint said. The girl's father is a daily wage labourer the complaint said. Sources in Mohali Police however said later that although they had registered a case of kidnapping the girl was over 18 and had gone willingly.

      Mohali March 4As many as 829 persons — 672 senior citizens and 157 aged 45 to 59 with comorbidities — were administered the Covid vaccine at seven government hospitals and 29 private hospitals in the district today. A total of 1988 senior citizens and 292 persons aged 45 to 59 have been jabbed so far. Civil Surgeon Adarshpal Kaur said 128 and 190 healthcare workers (HCWs) were given the first and second dose of the vaccine respectively. She said similarly 202 and 26 frontline workers (FLWs) were given the first and second dose of the vaccine. So far 5834 and 2896 HCWs and 4192 and 37 FLWs have got the first and second dose of vaccine respectively.

      Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said in this round vaccine would be administered to all citizens born in 1961 and earlier. Persons aged between 45 and 59 (born in 1976 and earlier) having specified comorbidities were also eligible for vaccination. Dayalan said preregistration for vaccination is not mandatory in this round of vaccination as was in the case of healthcare workers (HCWs) and frontline workers (FLWs). In the frontline workers category 3990 persons have received their first shot while 11 got their second shot. In the 45 to less than 60 years age group 135 persons have received their first shot till now.

By the end of the day the district health officials could only authenticate three facilities—District Hospital Mohali Fortis and Max Hospital—where the vaccine was administered. But there were reports of the vaccine being administered at other private hospitals as well. Two government hospitals in the Mohali district could not begin the vaccination programme on the first day due to various reasons.
