Tribune News ServiceMohali August 13Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu will unfurl the national flag during the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Government College in Phase 6 here on Sunday.
He said as per the state government's guidelines Independence Day would be celebrated across the state amid safety measures and crowd restrictions due to the pandemic.
Taking stock of the arrangements for the event and witnessing the full-dress rehearsal Dayalan said owing to the Covid crisis the I-Day celebrations would be restricted to hoisting the national flag followed by an address by the chief guest and prize distribution.
He said no public gathering would be held on the occasion and no schoolchildren would be involved in the event.

Chandigarh August 13Chandigarh on Friday reported seven new cases of Covid-19 taking the total tally in the city to 62024.
— TNSNo case for 2nd day in PanchkulaPanchkula: Panchkula reported zero Covid cases for the second consecutive day on Friday.
As a result the tally remained unchanged at 30656.
The Covid death toll also stayed at 376.
No death was reported in the district till Friday evening while two patients have recovered from the infection and discharged.
