Baltana in Zirakpur submerged in flood water after floodgates in Sukhna Lake opened. The situation is alarming for areas adjoining Sukhna Choe downstream to Baltana, Zirakpur, Mohali and Patiala. The floodgates were last opened in September 2018 and in 2008. The sudden gush of water released from Sukhna Lake caused flash floods in parts of Baltana in Zirakpur on Sunday. The area experienced flood like situation for the first time in its history. In Baltana, the police post, marriage palaces, Municipal Park, milk dairies and cremation grounds were the most affected.
